Tour program
Sarajevo

Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where East truly meets West, where mountains meet city and where tradition meets modernity. Our tour starts here!

Mostar & Hutovo blato Nature park

Mostar is a city that began with a bridge and in which the bridge is a logical center and meaning. Every traveler who comes to Mostar goes first to see the Old Bridge and we shall be no exception.
Our next stop - Hutovo blato Nature Reserve. Hutovo Blato is located on the migratory path of birds from North and Central Europe to Asia and Africa. Birds find plenty of food, quiet and peace for rest. According to the latest research 240 species of birds from 39 families were recorded.
TOP 5 birds:

Livanjsko polje - Jajce - Banja Luka

We start the day with Livanjsko polje (Livanjsko field) is the largest polje (karstic field) in the world. A typical example of karst polje encircled by tall peaks and mountain ranges, the field is characterized by many unique natural phenomenons and karstic features. A combination of mountains, wetlands, and grasslands makes a perfect habitat for a wide range of bird species.

TOP 5 birds:

We’ll also visit Jajce It is very picturesque little town situated in central Bosnia. It is carved out of stone and chosen by old Kings and rulers as the place to build one of the most beautiful towns in the world. Jajce waterfall is very unique, not because it is largest or tallest waterfall, but because it is located in the centre core of Jajce and because it is the place where two rivers meet. Pliva river flows into river Vrbas by jumping 24 meters down.

And finally arrive to Banja Luka is the second-biggest city in Bosnia and the de facto capital of the Republika Srpska. It was included in the Rough Guides in its list of the best under-explored cities in the world. The city was one of only two in Europe on the list, the other being Liepaja in Latvia.

Rough Guides called Banja Luka one of the continent’s "more handsome cities" with "tree-lined boulevards and leafy squares with smart cafés".

Zasavica Nature Reserve

The river Zasavica is about 30 km long, and with numerous flood depressions and forest barriers.

Let's explore the Valjevac pasture – the central feature of the area and the largest pasture in northwestern Serbia: a combination of a grassland, shallow water-filled depressions, with nearby reedbeds.

Within the reserve there is a farm of old breeds of domestic animals, such as the Balkan donkey, the Mangalitsa pig, Domestic Mountain Horse and Podolian (Grey Steppe) cattle.

TOP 5 birds:

Belgrade

Belgrade is the capital and largest city of Serbia, one of the oldest cities in Europe, with its rich history, in which it was destroyed to the ground more than 40 times and rebuilt from the ashes of wars, grew into a modern and contemporary megalopolis with the love and will of its citizens. It is located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. Belgrade, We'll visit Ada Ciganlija island, enjoy beautiful birds on the river Danube and some unexpecting birwatching locations near Belgrade.

TOP 5 birds:

Uvac Nature Reserve

The nature reserve is a canyon-like valley of the river, including the valleys of its tributaries. An average deep of the valley is between 200 and 300 meter. The main attraction in the reserve is the avifauna, with 172 bird species. The most important inhabitant of Uvac is the Griffon Vulture, of which hundreds live in the reserve, the biggest colony in the Balkans.

TOP 5 birds:

Tara Mountain National Park

The greatest value of the Tara National Park are the mixed forests, covering over 80% of the park's surface area. The Tara Mountain brings refuge to over 140 bird species. Some of the mammalian highlights of the national park are brown bear ( but rarely seen), chamois, roe deer, wildcat, European pine marten, and Eurasian otter. Hope we won't meet any bears, but who knows!

TOP 5 birds:

Vishegrad

Visegrad, became known to the world after Noble Prize winner (1961) Ivo Andric published the novel The Bridge on the Drina. Mehmed Pasa Sokolovic, the UNESCO-listed 16th-century bridge, spans the River Drina surrounded by green limestone ravines. The Drina has unusually green color. It used to be called “Zelenika” (Green river) once due to its intensive green color, as if some dedicated painter keeps pouring his tempera into the river.
Sarajevo

Our journey has come to his end. 1600 km left behind, the list of lifers is replenished, the phone memory is full of photos not only of birds, but also stunning scenery! Thank you for choosing us!

What’s the weather like?

In autumn, daytime temperatures usually remain at a comfortable level of -20-25 degrees Celsius, and at night - 10-15 degrees Celsius.
Everyone perceives the temperature differently, however, a light jacket wouldn't go amiss.

 What to take with me?

You do not need to take special camping equipment.

It is enough to have comfortable sports sneakers and autumn-spring jacket with wind protection.

Bring along binoculars and cameras and, of course, good mood.

Do I need Visa?

The rules of entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina & Serbia for foreign citizens are individual for each country. We would be pleased to advise you on this matter.

What’s the difficulty level of the tour?
The tour accessible to all without severe physical limitations. The tour is designed for 5 participants. Mainly we move to the car. In the car, each will have a window and the ability to take pictures. It’s the best way to watch birds.
